INFRA-RED ALERT-- FAQ

Where can it be used?

The Infra-Red Alert System can be used to monitor driveways, walkways, entrances, yards, outbuildings, businesses, pool areas, waterfronts, motorhomes, campgrounds etc. Use your imagination! It will alert you whenever anyone enters the area under cover. Now you can have peace of mind knowing that you will be alerted whenever people or vehicles enter your property.

If you want simultaneously to cover more than one area, you can purchase a Multi-Zone Infra-Red Alert System which will cover four different areas: each independently of the other. This is particularly useful for covering the boundaries of pool areas and waterfronts.

What do you get?

The Infra-Red Alert System consists of two units: an infra-red sensor/transmitter and a receiver.(Additional Transmitters may be added). Each unit is encased with high-impact plastic and has been silicon dipped for weatherproofing. A 9 Volt battery and mounting plate is supplied for the transmitter and a power supply for the receiver. Instructions and a warranty card are also provided.

The Multi-Zone Infra-Red Alert System is more elaborate than the Infra-Red Alert System. It comes with two sensor/transmitters, batteries and mounting plates. Additional Transmitters can be added wherever needed. The receiver can actually register and react to the calls of four transmitters:- each independently of the other. There are four built-in zones: each with an LED light (to distinguish where an activity is originating) and a different sounding "alert" tone. There are also seperate jacks for optional accessories, a volume control, adjustable timers for the duration of the tones and a built-in relay transmitter. The receiver comes with its own power supply to plug into any household outlet. Instructions and a warranty card are also provided.

The Camper Alert comes with one sensor/transmitter and one portable receiver. Both units are encased in green, high-impact plastic and have been silicon dipped for weatherproofing. 9 Volt batteries are supplied: one for the sensor/tranmitter and one for the receiver. How does it work?

Infra-Red Alert Systems works by means of the latest infra-red technology. By sensing the heat and motion of a person or vehicle, the transmitter sends a wireless impulse to the receiver. This triggers three actions on the receiver plugged into any household outlet:

A short 5 second "alert" beep and then the unit resets itself. There is a volume control for the beep.
A red LCD light comes on.
A Low voltage is directed to an accessory jack to power plug-in optonal accessories such as: a strobe flashing light, buzzer, siren etc.

How do you install it?

It is simple. Just mount each sensor/transmitter to a tree or post beside your driveway, walkway, pool area, waterfront, yard, garage-- or whatever area you wish to montior (with the two screws provided) and plug the receiver into any electrical outlet in your house.

That's it. You will now be alerted each time someone enters you property.

What are the optional accessories and add-ons available for Alert Systems?

You can extend the range of area monitored by your Alert system by purchasing add-on Sensor/Tranmitters. To extend the range of the signal transmisson from the Sensor to the Receiver, you can purchase a Relay Transmitter.
The following plug-in accessories are available to customise the type of alert you receive: siren, strobe light, and buzzer

Will Infra-Red Alert be set off by rain or snow or leaves or pets?

Rain or snow (or hail for that matter) will not set off the Infra-Red Alert sensor/tranmitters. The infra-red beam only reacts to movement or activity of heated bodies such as people or cars.

As for pets it is optional: you can adjust the senor so to lower the beam direction downwards in order to pick up pets.
Normally, each sensor is placed about 2-3 feet from ground level so as not to go off with the passage of small animals.

How often will I have to change each sensor/transmitter's 9 volt battery?

Luckily, there is only one such battery per transmitter. As it draws very little power, the battery will last for many months in normal usage. The more often the sensor beams are crossed by people or vehicles, the shorter the battery life will be. The battery is an easily obtainable 9 volt type.

Is there a warranty?

There is a one year manufacturer's warranty.

We confess that we were skeptical as to whether this Infra-Red Alert device would be worth its value in practical use.

It was first installed into our factory compound by mounting it at the gate entrance. There it alerted us to all visitors and vehicles entering or exiting. On its very first day, our staff all agreed that this device had become a necessity.

As our Recepionist Ann said,

     "It gets awfully busy around here:- what with staff, customers, visitors, sales people and deliveries contantly in and out"
     "Now we feel more in control of what is happening."
     "The ALERT beep gives us advance notice that there is someone coming."

Installing the product was a snap. It took about two minutes to install the sensor to a post. The receiver was plugged in at the reception desk of our business.

The Infra-Red Alert has performed reliably for the past four months during out testing. And the first couple of months were in winter conditions with low temperatures and plenty of snow. There have been no false alerts. Some of our staff have bought units for themselves to install at their homes. This product sells itself!

Our Production Manager has put a Multi-Zone Infra-Red Alert System on his property to monitor the waterfront, driveway and garage all at the same time and independently of each other.

Our President's 8 year-old son went to school one morning -- the "alert" tone sounded as he left the driveway. A few moments afterwards, it went again. His mother looked out to see if there was a problem. And there was. The boy was returning home rather briskly and looking scared. An unknown dog was barking and growling from directly across the road. The situation was rectified immediately thanks to the "alert" given.

Once you have this product, you won't want to be without one.

Camper Alert

The CAMPER ALERT Detection System is a new, unique product designed for situations where 110 volt power is not available. Whenever an unwanted intruder, an animal or even an uninvited guest approaches your camp site or any area being monitored, this amazing, wireless, detection system alerts you of activity.

The CAMPER ALERT system consists of a sensor transmitter and a portable receiver made of high impact plastic. Additional units may be added wherever needed. The fully weatherproof sensor transmitter which easily mounts to a tree trunk, post or fence etc. senses activity through heat and motion via the infrared eye, across the pathway, driveway, entryway, or wherever detection is needed.
